Sarah Jessica Parker, who stars in the HBO series Sex And The City, is taking meetings about joining the cast of Dudley Do-Right.
She'd play Do-Right's faithful love Nell in a film adaptation of the cartoon Canadian Mountie character who always gets his man. Parker has already bagged her man, actor Matthew Broderick.
Brendan Fraser is set to star as Do-Right and Alfred Molina is expected to play his nemesis Snidely Whiplash.
It's a Baywatch thing
James Brolin has reportedly been renewed as huckster for Aamco Oil company.
It has zilch to do with his anointing as Mr. Streisand, stresses Aamco. It's because he tests well with both male and female TV viewers.
And there is no truth to the rumour that Pamela Anderson has hooked up with Brolin's son, Josh.
Pammy's reps claim she's never even met him. Australia's New Weekly mag claims she scouted him on Malibu beach.
Much a doo-doo
To borrow a phrase from an old Queen, Norm Macdonald is having "an annus horribilis."
Macdonald was dumped from Saturday Night Live for not being funny enough. If that was the case, why didn't they can the whole staff?
Then again, Macdonald's got Howard Stern in his corner.
And a new comedy film, Ballbusted, in which he and Dave Chappelle play two buddies whose plot to kidnap the dog of Macdonald's rich employer goes awry. Sarah Silverman (There's Something About Mary) plays Macdonald's girlfriend, who sticks by him through all the doo-doo.

Yes Virginian, there is a Santa. His name is Ted Turner.
TNT has signed actor Bill Pullman, the alien-busting president in Independence Day and the eccentric detective in Zero Effect, to star in and make his directorial debut on an adaptation of The Virginian.
The Virginian began as a 1902 novel by Owen Wister and spawned both movie and TV spinoffs. Makers of the TNT production say they'll adhere to the spirit of the book, which focuses on the love story.
Presumably not between a cowboy and his horse.
Dressing well is the best avenge
J. Peterman, the clothing catalogue spoofed on Seinfeld, is cranking out reproductions of clothing and other merchandise from the Warner Bros. film The Avengers, which opens next week starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman and is a knockoff of the '60s TV series.
The latex clothes will be the hot ticket if you believe Avengers producer Jerry Weintraub, who calls it "every 16-year-old's fantasy."
There must be a lot of busy 16-year-olds out there. Posters of Thurman in her catsuit are disappearing from walls everywhere.
